Scheduled Air Carrier Service to South Bimini Airport by American Airlines to begin in early 2026

At the request of American Airlines and the Bimini Airport Develop Project and Airport Operator, BANSA was requested to develop and published an RNAV Instrument Approach Procedure for South Bimini Airport.

Launch of the New BANSA Website

The Bahamas Air Navigation Services Authority (BANSA) is pleased to announce the official launch of our new website: www.BANSABahamas.com The new site has been designed to better serve both our internal staff and external customers by providing a modern, user-friendly platform with improved access to information and services. Key features include clearer organizational and service information, enhanced communication with stakeholders, and a foundation for expanded digital services and updates going forward. The Bahamas Aeronautical Information Publication is available at no cost, on the website under the AIP tab. The NOTAMs tab will temporarily redirect you to the flightplanbahamas.com web portal for access to current NOTAMs. All NOTAMs will be transitioned to the BANSAbahmas.com website by January 31, 2026, at which time access to flightplanbahamas.com will cease. ICAO Annexes and Documents added to the Airkives Library Portal

The latest ICAO Annexes (19) and Documents (82) for a total of 101, have been uploaded to the Airkives Library Portal for your use. They are the most recent ICAO reference materials, and as amendments become available, they will be uploaded on the effective dates. A big thanks goes to Mr. Rashad Penn, AIS Deputy Director, for working with CAA-B to gain access to the ICAO Portal to obtain the materials, download and categorize the information.

Our History

BANSA was established on February 21, 2021, as an autonomous air navigation service provider under the Bahamas Air Navigation Services Authority Act, 2021. Previously, air navigation services were managed by the Bahamas Air Navigation Services Division (BANSD), part of the Civil Aviation Authority of The Bahamas, and before that, the Civil Aviation Department. BANSA’s creation aligned with ICAO guidelines, which recommend separating regulators from service providers to avoid conflicts of interest and strengthen confidence in the system.

Our People

As of June 30, 2022, BANSA had 158 employees—comprising air traffic controllers, electric technicians, administrative and finance staff, and executive management.
